I’m almost certain that the flurry of St George’s flags is pure astroturf.

The big giveaway is the speed of emergence.

Most people would have had to buy a flag. This would insert a modest time delay between the thought and then intention to fly a flag, and actually doing so.

For the area I was watching, it went from a tiny number of flags to multiple streets being all flagged up, all in 1-2 days.

A friend of mine in the North of England was very happy to see the English flags flying in her small town as it made her feel safer. I hear that the police are taking English flags down for "safety reasons" but won't touch any rainbow flags as they are apparently not safety hazards. Please make this make sense. Any police officer taking down the Union flag or the flag of a home nation needs to seriously consider getting the hell out of the police farce.

From a positive point of view, maybe the flag thing has caught on because people are just fed up of the way things are going generally, and this is a highly visible way of expressing it. Protests generally are only visible to relatively small numbers of people, especially if the media does not cover it, but flags waving in the streets everywhere can’t easily be ignored. I’m sure that this is not to the liking of the string pullers and they are scrambling to put their divisive twist on it. It sounds like ‘they’ are busy spinning a scenario that fits their purposes

As for the protests, especially the big organised ones, I say don’t waste your energy feeding the beast. In a way the flags are doing what protests never could…sending local messages of discontent with the status quo. ‘They’ will not like it.

Hi Ben. I'm not so wiley on all these matters, but one thing caught my eye: the company Oberion group seems to be situated in Limassol, Cyprus. I'm sure Vanessa Beeley can tell you about influences within this beautiful island. Recently I saw a report from Dimitri Lascaris on YT - will see if I can find and post it - on the almost takeover of Cyprus.

Here ya go:

We STILL have the stupid Ukraine flag up in our village 24/7 apart from when they deign to put up the Union Jack on odd occasions. I have complained to the parish council. This is the UK and it rains a lot but it is beyond a joke.

Perhaps the flags are going up to represent the fact that the idiots in the Labour Government are flagging.

On another matter Ben, I do not recall if you did anything on this.
