wonderful poem so true! and from ages ago one you would know: The law hangs the man or woman who steals a goose from off the commons but turns the greater rascal loose that steals the commons from the goose.

See my book The Earth Belongs to Everyone free pdf here: www.theIU.org/resources and join The International Union for Land Value Taxation (commons rent for the common people, no taxes on labor and production, care of earth) Can I put you in touch with friends in Scotland? I live near Scotland, PA in south central Pennsylvania settled by Scotch Irish. alannahartzok@gmail.com

Thank you for sharing this Ben. To me, it goes to show the power of poetry as a truth-telling mechanism that exists outside of dry information - exactly why it was so revered throughout time! Auden seems like he had a great eye for the breakdown of life by controlling systems that were unfolding in his era - the "The Unknown Citizen" and "Epitaph of a Tyrant" are great illustrations. I suspect Auden would be seething at the state of the world if he were around today. Perhaps now is the time for poetic solutions that build on that legacy.

Sorry to put the stinkers on it. I'd not heard the poem, I was late to the broadcast. Obviously I was intrigued and so messing around i asked AI to do a poem about corrupt local councils. Got a tell you though, the format was exactly the same as the poem you posted which I'd read after the fact of course. But your right its worse than sad Ben. Personally I believe 90+ % of the 'INTRANET' as I call it has gone to the dogs!. The 'INTERNET' ceased to exist when the brought out the https protocol in 2016. Its progressively gotten worse from there. Specifically the false flag fake events went into overdrive from that point on and subsequently used as an excuse to justify more fake narratives. That iswhy I appreciate your content, even if we are on completely different pages a lot of the time. The effort you put in doesn't go unnoticed. Maybe have a go at writing your own poems? With a pen of course.;)

I did think about it being Ai and it may well be, but it would be lovely if it wasn’t. Ai, or from the heart, it is quite powerful and delivers a strong message, no matter what we have been led to believe from non evidence based doctrines…

The fact that a living man (or woman) took the time to have it composed or composed it and post it here, gives it real worth and a powerful message and warning.

Well done, whoever Ian McKay is!

Go ask AI to write a poem. Give it the criteria and it sounds exactly like an AI generated poem.

A sad state of affairs if that's your first reaction. I can understand why, sign of the times I guess. But it connected with me in a profound way and I sincerely hope it's genuine aka HUMAN! :)

You are not a cynic, are you?

Although I am English by birth and have red hair and blue eyes with ancestors from Finland, Sweden, Norway and northern Scotland, I constitute just 0.17% of British demographics and my surname contains Croft, I felt an emotional connection to this wonderful poem.
