It seems that the economy IS the country, at least in the media which acts as the mass mind of the people. The people serve the economy which is the cart leading the horse - no wonder it's such a mess. People talk a lot about the separation of powers of the state but I think the most important distinction to be made is between the living people and the economy. This would mean a separation between our living selves and our corporate identities and the Land of England from the UK. If this is not achieved then nothing constructive can be done, it's the sine qua non. The City Corporation will always be there - even the Normans couldn't get rid of them, and they are the best people to manage the economy but they must be the cart and not the horse, after all it carries the goods which ARE the economy.
