The Telegraph, Guardian. FT, Daily Mail and ITN are discussing a 'NATO For News' model to protect their collective interests in the face of AI and revenue collapse. This can't be a good thing.
Interesting thought about going back to local papers. We have some on the west coast of Canada but they have government funding just like the CBC so are not going to “step out of line”. There is an interesting publication called Druthers which is citizen funded and delivered to the door occasionally but I’m not sure how many people read it. Love UK Column and became a member a couple of years ago after someone commented on it on-line. Great work!
Look at how good it worked out for the US. There are 5 conglomerates that control 90% of the US media landscape. It is a bit simplified, I know, because of independent platforms, such as X, but tells the story. These conglomerates are owned by BlackRock, Vanguard in significant ways (18-20%, some cases more), having a great influence of the narrative. This is coming in the UK too, especially after the Digital Act.
excellent summary of the situation regarding media capture plus positive
focus on solutions for way forward…..
Would be interested to hear more about your local paper/newsletter you mentioned
You cannot hope to bribe or twist, the British journalist.
But seeing what they will do, unbribed, there's no occasion to.
