A Conversation With Alex Thomson

Covering Zionism, Christian Zionism, Torah, Talmud, spirituality, religion, and the conflict in the Middle East.

Happy new year everybody.

Welcome to 2024: what promises to be a defining year for the whole of humanity.

To open proceedings, I’m delighted to share this recent conversation with my friend and colleague Alex Thomson regarding Zionism, Christian Zionism, Torah, Talmud, spirituality, religion, and the conflict in the Middle East.

I was intrigued by Alex’s excellent conversation with James Delingpole from the end of last year and was compelled to arrange a follow up discussion. I recommend listening to that conversation before this one, if you haven’t already, for additional context. You can find it on Odysee, Spotify and elsewhere…

In this discussion, I share some of my personal background and connection to Judaism and Christianity, while Alex provides insights into the hierarchy and development of Jewish texts, including the Torah and the Talmud.

We explore the concept of dispensationalism and replacement theology; the living and evolving nature of Jewish texts; the purpose of the Jewish nation; the role of the Messiah and the role of the Jews in history; including the rejection of Christ and the consequences of this rejection.

We also discuss the genetic claims and cultural identity of Jews, as well as the importance of forgiveness in Jewish and Christian beliefs. Our conversation touches on the Jerusalem and Babylonian Talmud and the different theological and ethnic strata within Judaism.

We conclude with a discussion about Jewish migration and settlements throughout history, the history of Jews in Arab countries, the role of biblical prophecy in Israeli politics, and the manipulation of religion for geopolitical gain.

Importantly, we touch on the concept of Jewish supremacism which seems to be driving current Israeli policy, the relationship between the British Empire and Zionism, and the influence of different strands of Judaism, including Kabbalah, on contemporary British politics.

Takeaways from our discussion include:

  • Zionism and Christian Zionism are highly relevant to the current conflict in the Middle East.

  • Judaism and Christianity have distinct and important differences, whilst sharing common foundational texts.

  • The Talmud is a significant text in Judaism. It builds on the Torah and contains Rabbinical interpretations and debates developed over centuries that have profound implications for the modern world.

  • The rejection of Christ by the Jewish people is one of the most profound and far-reaching phenomenons in human history.

  • The purpose of the Jewish nation is for the Messiah to be born and recognised as their leader.

  • Netanyahu regularly references biblical prophecy to justify his recent actions in Gaza, but his religious beliefs are up for debate.

  • Religion is often manipulated by politicians for their own gain, and this is not unique to Israel.

  • There is a history of Jewish supremacism and Zionism, with some Jewish groups viewing all non-Jews as enemies.

  • Kabbalah is a complex and controversial belief system that has attracted many celebrity followers. Rishi Sunak, the UK's unelected Prime Minister, has been recently been seen wearing what appears to be a Kabbalah bracelet.

Much more to come from Rise in 2024 as I return to full active duty. The aim is to be publishing here 2-3 times a week in addition to my regular Friday slot on UK Column News.

Blessings.
